早在1962年,受日本 ZORI FLIP-FLOP夹脚拖鞋的影响,巴西开始制造哈瓦那(Havaianas)人字拖。1965年,哈瓦那人字拖每天销量1000双,几乎变成巴西国鞋。现如今,哈瓦那人字拖在全世界已达2.2亿双的销量,凭借其天然橡胶的独特秘方,以及丰富鲜丽的色彩和印花,下到市井小民,上到王宫贵族,甚至名流巨星都对它情有独钟。帕丽斯·希尔顿、王菲都是哈瓦那人字拖的粉丝。可以说,这双小小的人字拖在世界各地的时尚圈都小有名气。《Vogue》、《Cosmopolitan》、《ELLE》、《Wallpaper》曾专门为Havaianas 做过特大篇幅的报道。
1994年,哈瓦那人字拖 (Havaianas) 为了让成本下降提高获利,推出单色系的拖鞋产品线 HAVAIANAS TOP,没想到居然获得上流市场 (over upper classes) 的青睐。 自此五彩缤纷的色彩组合成为Havaianas人字拖的最醒目的卖点。2010年,巴西BBDO广告公司再次为哈瓦那打造了一系列绚丽繁复的广告,活色生香的图案令人大呼过瘾。
